Fall 2017 Orientation Events and Resources

Welcome to the College of Arts & Sciences at Georgia State University.

We are thrilled to have you join our faculty! We encourage you to take full advantage of the orientation activities and resources highlighted below, which are designed to ensure your successful transition to GSU. Please check out our offerings and get in touch with us if you have any questions.

The College of Arts & Sciences looks forward to welcoming new Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, Professors, Research Professors, Lecturers, and Academic Professionals.

Dean Sara Rosen will provide an overview of the mission and services of the college and introduce the associate deans and other key personnel.

New faculty will have the opportunity to learn more about the college and university, get tips on helpful resources, meet new colleagues, and ask questions in an informal setting.

Please come prepared to introduce yourself and your area(s) of research or teaching expertise!

Heavy hors d'oeuvres will be offered.

All new faculty teaching at Georgia State's downtown campus are invited to attend one of two Pedagogy Orientations, organized by the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL). The orientation includes both plenary sessions and break-out groups with discussion tailored to your teaching experience. You will learn about GSU students and a broad range of topics, including effective syllabi, active learning, instructional technology at GSU, and how to advance your pedagogical practices.

Register to Attend

Provost Risa Palm and other top university administrators will present on a range of topics of interest to new faculty. Afternoon breakout sessions for tenure-track and non-tenure track faculty will be led by some of the university's most experienced faculty.
